Shayne McLaughlin was one of the most talented two-way players ever at Memorial. He is 2nd on the all-time scoring list and #2 in goals scored behind Jefferson Dahl. He is also the first Eau Claire high school player to appear in over 100 games. Shayne was named First Team All-State as a junior and senior. He switched to defense in his junior season and wound up not only leading the team in scoring, but setting a new record for most goals in a season (17) by an Abes' defenseman. As a sophomore, he was a key member of the first line for the Abes' first State Championship team. His 29 goals in '07-'08 tied Seth Soley for the 2nd-most in a season. Shayne's twin brother, Aarin, was the Abes' starting goalie. His father, Mickey McLaughlin, played for Memorial in the mid-70's.
Shayne played for the Springfield Blues in the NAHL.
He is now playing college hockey for UW-Stout. Check out his current stats here.
