Irina met Xeebec at college in Binzat, where she immediately became infatuated with him.  At the time, however, he was busy wooing his future wife, and showed no interest in her.  Irina still carries a torch for him.

She is currently a member of the Council, the Empire's large legislative body.  She's rather devious and untrustworthy, but she has influence in high places.
