Dragon Exile - A Warcraft FancomicNotes

In case anyone was wondering where all the bits and pieces of images in this comic came from, here are some "Making Of" notes.

Unless otherwise noted all the dragons are screenshots from the WoW Model Viewer.

Page 1, Panels 1 and 2:  Backgrounds are screenshots taken while flying over the Burning Steppes.  Nefarian's shadow in Panel 2 was added in Paintshop.

Page 1, Panel 4:  Background is a screenshot taken while flying from Theramore to Gadgetzan, along the coast of Dustwallow Marsh.   Onyxia's shadow was added in Paintshop.

Page 2, Panels 1 and 2:  Backgrounds are screenshots taken while flying over the Burning Steppes, with saturation and color levels heavily edited in Paintshop.  Dragon silhouettes were added in Paintshop.

Page 2, Panel 3/4:  Background is a screenshot of the entrance to Rethban Caverns in Redridge, with saturation and color levels heavily edited in Paintshop.

Page 3, Panels 1 and 2:  Backgrounds are screenshots from inside Rethban Caverns, again edited.

Page 3, Panel 3 and Page 9, Panel 4:  The portal was taken from a screenshot of the Twilight Grove in Duskwood and edited heavily in Paintshop.  Rest of background is more of Rethban Caverns.

Page 3, Panels 3 and 4:  All shots of Deathwing are based on screenshots of Lethon taken in WoW Model Viewer and darkened/edited in Paintshop.  I wasn't sure how to depict his armor, or how he will look if/when he's added to WoW, so he's even darker and more mysterious than usual.  ;)

Pages 4 through 10:  Swirly reddish Deathwing background done completely in Paintshop.  Nefarian, Onyxia and Obsidia background is more edited shots of Rethban Caverns.

Page 6, Panel 3:  Obsidia is based on Model Viewer screenshots of a drake, with colors, lightness, etc, edited in Paintshop.

Page 10, Panel 4:  Screenshot of Elwynn taken by standing up on a hill.  Onyxia shadow added in Paintshop.

Page 11 and 12:  Obsidia images from Model Viewer.   Background from an in-game Elwynn screenshot.

Pages 13, 14, and 15:  In-game screenshots, slightly edited in a few places.
