ALLAG. Water rat Captain under Ziral's command.

ARVEN. Abbot for three seasons after Tansy passed away. Died in the spring.  (PL, LP)

ASCROD. Male Marlfox often paired with Vannan. Son of Silth, brother of Mokkan, Gelltor, Lantur, Vannan, Predak and Ziral. Killed in battle with Redwallers.

ATHRAK. Leader of the fifty magpies serving Queen Silth.

B

BARGLE. Male Guosim shrew. Was the leader of the Guosim after the Log-a-Log as murdered by Fenno, but he himself was killed in battle with the Marlfoxes.

BEECHTIPP. Female hedgehog. Wife of Sollertree, mother of Nettlebud. Killed by vermin.

BEELU. Male water rat killed by Mokkan.

BLINNY. Male molebabe of Redwall.

BORRAKUL IRONCHEST. Male otter. Brother of Elachim Oakpaw. Member of the Sensational Wandering Noonvale Companions Troupe.

BRIMM. Thin, elderly goodwife otter. Very old, with silver-white fur. Very good cook. Wears a poke bonnet and a puff-sleeved gown. Lives in a house of stone, baked clay and mud bricks with a garden. Friend of Sollertree.

BURBLE. Jolly, young male water vole of the Riverhead tribe. One of the "Four Chieftains" who journeyed to Marlfox Island. Later became leader of the Riverheads.

BUSCOL, MOTHER. Head of the Redwall Abbey kitchens in Butty's childhood.

BUTTY, FRIAR. Elderly male squirrel, Recorder of Redwall Abbey. Has a footpaw that is sensitive to weather changes. (LP, MX)

CASTLE MARL. Palace of the Marlfoxes on the island in the middle of the Great Inland Lake. Has no stairs, only ramps.

CAVERN HOLE.  Cozy, informal meeting and dining area in Redwall Abbey, down from Great Hall.

COMALLYEH. Water vole celebration held after a good trading session.

CREGGA. Former badger warrioress of Salamandastron. Became Badger Mother of Redwall after she was blinded in battle.  (LP, MX)

CROIKLE. Small green frog with golden eyes. Friend/pet of Sollertree. Doesn't speak; only says "croikle".

DAKKLE. Male water rat killed by Redwallers.

DANNFLOR ("DANN") REGUBA. Male warrior squirrel. Son of Rusvul Reguba. His mother died when he was an infant. She had wanted him to be a daughter named Dannflower! Chosen by Martin the Warrior's spirit to carry his sword. One of the "Four Chieftains" who journeyed to Marlfox Island. Later named Abbey warrior. (MX)

DEESUM. Mousemaid actress in the Sensational Wandering Noonvale Companions Troupe. Guardian and aunt of Dwopple.

DIGGUM. Mole cellarkeeper at Redwall.

DIPPLER. Young male Guosim shrew. One of the "Four Chieftains" who went to Marlfox Island. Weapon of choice is a shrew rapier. After the quest was named Log-a-Log of the Guosim.

DURRLOW. Water rat named personal Adviser by Mokkan when he became King.

DWOPPLE. Male mouse. Nephew and ward of Deesum. Very mischievous Dibbun. Travels with the Sensational Wandering Noonvale Companions Troupe.

ELACHIM OAKPAW. Male otter. Brother of Borrakul Ironchest. Member of the Sensational Wandering Noonvale Companions Troupe.

ELLAYO. Kindly old female squirrel. Wife of Gawjo, mother of Janglur, mother-in-law of Rimrose, grandmother of Songbreeze.

FATCHUR. Male water rat under Gelltor's command. Killed by Janglur Swifteye.

FENNO. Evil male Guosim shrew who murdered Log-a-Log. Captured by Mokkan, later killed by Dipper.

FLORIAN DUGGLEWOOF WILFFACHOP. Male hare descended from Ballaw DeQuincewold. Leader of the Sensational Wandering Noonvale Companions Troupe. Wears of a rumpled frock of lilac silk, a wide-brimmed straw hat, yellow boots and carries a silver-tipped cane. Has an overblown sense of theatrics.

G

GAWJO SWIFTEYE. Male squirrel. Husband of Ellayo, father of Janglur, grandfather of Songbreeze, adoptive father of Torrab the female hedgehog and 13 other orphaned hedgehogs. The only prisoner ever to escape from Marlfox Island until the arrival of the Four Chieftains.

GELLTOR. Male Marlfox often paired with Predak. Son of Silth, brother of Mokkan, Lantur, Ascrod, Vannan, Predak and Ziral.  Killed by Janglur Swifteye at Redwall.

GORM. Water rat under Mokkan's command.

GREAT HALL. Large meeting area in Redwall Abbey. Inside is a large tapestry chronicling the abbey's history.

GREAT INLAND LAKE. Large freshwater lake south of Mossflower. The island in the center is the site of Castle Marlfox. (SN, MX)

GREY ONE. Old male water vole. Fat, greedy, dishonest leader of the Riverhead tribe.

GUARD COMMAND. Threescore high-ranking water rat officers in Castle Marl. Each carries a leaf-bladed short spear and a small, round buckler shield.

GUBBIO. Foremole of Redwall.

GUFF. Male Dibbun doormouse of Redwall with enormous, sensitive ears.

GURRBOWL. Mole cellarkeeper of Redwall.

JANGLUR SWIFTEYE. Large, strong male squirrel with dark, thick fur, especially around his eyes. Son of Gawjo and Ellayo, husband of Rimrose, father of Songbreeze. Has an extra-large tail and long eyelashes, and is unusually tall for a squirrel. Wise in the ways of battle.

LANTUR. Female Marlfox. Daughter of Silth, sister of Mokkan, Gelltor, Ascrod, Vannan, Predak and Ziral. The favorite of her father. Smaller and more finely-featured than her siblings. The only Marlfox sibling who didn't leave their island to go to Mossflower. She was very briefly Queen after killing her mother, Silth, but Mokkan threw her into the lake to be killed by pike.

LEAFWOOD. Weapon comprised of a green ball on a stick. Highly revered by the Riverhead tribe. Carried by Songbreeze on the quest to Marlfox Island.

M

MAYON. Authoritative male Guosim shrew.

MEGRAW, MIGHTY. Male osprey (fish eagle). Lived by the Great Inland Lake until attacked by magpies. Later joined up with Songbreeze and the Redwallers to liberate Marlfox Island, which he then ruled.

MELILOT, BROTHER. Fat male dormouse of Redwall.

MOKKAN. Male Marlfox who usually acts as leader among his siblings. Son of Silth, brother of Lantur, Gelltor, Ascrod, Vannan, Predak and Ziral. The only Marlfox to survive the conflicts with Redwallers. Returned to Marlfox Island, killed Lantur and briefly became King only to be killed by Nettlebudd.

MOSSFLOWER.  Great forest surrounding Redwall Abbey.

MUGGLE. Female mole member of the Sensational Wandering Noonvale Companions Troupe.

N

NETTLEBUD. Burly female hedgehog. Daughter of Sollertree and Beechtipp. Kidnapped into slavery on Marlfox Island. Killed Mokkan. Reunited with her father when the slaves were freed.

NUTWING. Male owl. Stayed at Redwall after his siblings went off to see the world. Wears glasses. Killed when Marlfoxes attacked the abbey. (LP, MX)

RAVENTAIL. Barbarian ferret chieftain leading a band of other savage ferrets. Weapon of choice is a scimitar. Ally of the Marlfoxes. Killed by Cregga.

REDWALL ABBEY. Large red sandstone structure located between Mossflower woods and the main north road. Surrounded by tall walls. Major areas within the walls are: the gatehouse, bell tower, orchard, pond, Great Hall, Cavern Hole, infirmary, cellar, kitchens, Warbeak Loft. Built from red sandstone from a quarry north-east of the abbey. Founded by Abbess Germaine of Loamhedge and Martin the Warrior.

REGUBA. In ancient squirrel language, the title for the greatest warrior in all the land.

RIGGLENT. Water rat. Member of the Guard Command killed by Silth via the "Teeth of the Deeps" for dropping a shield.

RIMROSE. Female squirrel. Wife of Janglur, mother of Songbreeze. Later apprentice Recorder to Friar Butty of Redwall.

RIVERHEADS. Tribe of water voles in eastern Mossflower.

ROOP. Male mole who wears spangled bloomers. Member of the Sensational Wandering Noonvale Companions Troupe.

RUHEB. Water rat under Ziral's command.

RUNKTIPP. Male hedgehog. Member of the Sensational Wandering Noonvale Companions Troupe.

RUSVUL REGUBA. Stern male squirrel warrior. Father of Dannflor. Wife died when Dann was an infant. Friend of Janglur Swifteye and the Redwallers.

S

SILTH. Queen of the Marlfoxes. Mother of Lantur, Mokkan, Ziral, Ascrod, Vannan, Gelltor and Predak. Killed her mate when he wanted to become King. Rides in a curtained palanquin. Obsessed with beauty. Has a rasping voice. In her old age, was driven crazy by Lantur, who later killed her.

SLOEY, SISTER. Runs the Redwall Abbey infirmary.

SOLLERTREE ("SOLL"). Solitary, fat male hedgehog living in southern Mossflower. Likes to eat nuts. Originally named Skyspike. Husband of Beechtipp, father of Nettlebud.  Friends with Goodwife Brimm.  Keeps a pet frog named Croikle.

SONGBREEZE. Female squirrel. Daughter of Janglur and Rimrose, granddaughter of Gawjo and Ellayo. One of the "Four Chieftains" who journeyed to Marlfox Island. During the quest, she used a special greenstone stick as a weapon. Has a beautiful singing voice. Later became Abbess of Redwall.

SPLIKKER. Male Guosim shrew.

STICKABEE. Fanciful name used by Mokkan to trick Dwopple, Wugger and Blinny.

STUKKFURR. Male water rat under Ascrod's command. Nearly killed after falling from a tree during an attack on Redwall, but survived, only losing his teeth.

SWALLOW. Light boat acquired by the Four Chieftains from the Riverhead tribe.

T

TEETH OF THE DEEPS. Savage cannibal pike living in the shoals off the island in the Great Inland Lake.

TOOLAM. Water rat named commander of the army by Mokkan when he became King.

TORRAB. Female hedgehog. One of fourteen hedgehogs adopted by Gawjo Swifteye after they were orphaned by Marlfoxes.

TRAGGLO SPEARBACK. Male hedgehog cellarkeeper of Redwall with carpentry skill.

U

ULLIG. Male water rat. Sadistic slave Captain of the Marlfoxes. Partner of Wilce. Killed by Nettlebud.

V

VANNAN. Female Marlfox. Daughter of Silth, sister of Mokkan, Gelltor, Ascrod, Lantur, Predak and Ziral. Often paired with Ascrod. Killed in battle with Redwallers.

W

WHITEGHOST. Title Urthwyte used as Badger Lord of Salamandaston.

WILCE. Female water rat. Maid and spy for Lantur, who named her Chief Adviser when she became Queen. Partner of Ullig. Killed by angry slaves.

WUGGER. Male mole Dibbun of Redwall.
